Life's A Party, Dress Like it!

So lets talk  about the recent Target and Lily announcement. I can't describe how disappointed I am with all the Lilly girls that are being completely out of line.

 1) There are some of you saying that Target is hipsters: Girls, are we serious? Target is like the classy version of walmart. If you yourself don't go to target, then I bet you money that your house keepers or cooks buy things from there FOR YOU. Target has exclusives that no where else has. Target is the farthest thing away from hipster.

2) Lilly is supposed to be exclusive not for the masses: Lilly has been and always will be exclusive. This is an exclusive Target collection, they are making for Target ONLY. The way the target collection work is they stay in target stores for about 2 months and then BAM never again can you buy it. Lilly is offering a new type of exclusive not taking away its exclusivness. Lilly is expanding its customer base not ruining the name. More people are going to know what Lilly is and fall in love with the classic look Lilly spent her life creating. I get that it's annoying that for so long we have spent hundreds of dollars on a brand we all deem worth it to find out that now we can get it cheaper… but really its kinda shallow to think that. Why be upset that we can get it cheaper? When I see a J. Crew factory store I get really  excited not say "Oh, that store is for basics". Getting the clothes you love for a nice price is a something to take advantage of not be mad about. With every preppy twitter account and blog you see how much we all want people to understand the importance of dressing your best. I think we can all agree that cargo pants a a big time no no… Well we don't think that it is only okay for the elite to get prep shorts, ACTUALLY we hope that we never have to see cargos and point anytime we see someone wearing them. This collaboration is giving everyone a chance to have something worth wearing, everyone deserves a chance to live in Lilly.

3) Lilly at target is not classy: No. Just stop. no. Let me just start with saying that you are very much so not classy if you feel the need to say that, let alone post that on social media. Girls, Im going to go ahead and burst your bubble, being in a sorority DOES NOT automatically make you classy, owning pearls DOES NOT give you a first class ticket, and wearing Lilly WILL NOT be the reason people like you. Honestly, for all the STRAT post I hope you all get in a lot of trouble for saying the bratty things you're posting. The only thing you are doing is making you and your sorority look bad. For a good portion of you, the only reason you know about the Lilly brand is because of your sorority so don't get on a high horse thinking anyone not in your house is beneath the brand. If Lilly Pulitzer herself wouldn't have decided that she wanted to INCLUDE your sorority you might not even know about the brand. That's right, I said it. YOU WERE AN ADD ON to the exclusiveness that Lilly Pulitzer started off being. Some people might even go as far to say, just because you own an agenda doesn't mean you get to have a voice in the matter (you know who you are). Now, for those of you who don't claim a sorority-- I promise not all girls in the greek systems have that thought process. Those of you who have lots of pearls and can't believe that Lilly will be worn with the necklaces from the Wal-mart clearance rack: I agree, the pearls just make it work but really the $3 necklace might be able to look just as good. We aren't classy because we wear the pearls, we are classy because of how we act in them. "Lilly's parties are epic. We proudly carry on the tradition. No need to ring the doorbell, just come in and enjoy. It's inclusive and everyone's invited."  This is a direct quote from the Lilly website, pretend you're the host… are you really going to be upset that someone is coming well dressed to your party just because they didn't pay enough? Let everyone in good heavens, the brand started at a lemonade stand!

4) Lilly's marketing team has made a huge mistake… Lilly must be turning over in her grave… The company has gone down hill since she has gone: OUCH! could you have been more blunt? First things first, those statements were just plain rude and uncalled for. You may have never been taught this or maybe you just thought they should cost more, but manners cost nothing. Secondly, the marketing team for Lilly just made the perfect decision! Lilly is ALL OVER social media! Guess what the marketing groups job is… you guessed it! Get the name out there. Third, Lilly Pulitzer had NOT gone downhill. Truthfully if thats how you feel, then why do you even care if they are making a move you don't approve of? You're too good for that, right?

As you can tell, I am pretty fed up with the reaction of the collaboration between my beloved Lilly Pulitzer and Target. If you don't like it, then when April comes around don't go to Target, miss out on great deals. YOUR LOSS LADY! I know there is frustration in knowing people will being wearing things out of season, or with things that just don't go but really Lilly is made to catch an eye of people who make things work. At least people will try and look good. Next time you get upset about it, try and stay classy. Remember please for everyones sake…. classy girls wear pearls, they don't let the pearls wear them. "Life's a party, dress like it."
